Benefits of an Enclosed Mobile Detailing Trailer

Is it worth the expense to invest in a mobile trailer for your auto detailing business? We get asked that a lot. What it really comes down to is this:

  • Are you perfectly content with having all those auto detailing supplies stored in the back of the family car or van?
  • Is moving your auto detailing equipment around when you need to take on passengers becoming a little old?
  • And wouldn’t it be nice to have your generator, air compressor and water tank with pressure washer motor all ready to rock and roll when you arrive at a job?
Mobile Detailing Trailer

If you’re serious about going all out with your mobile auto detailing business, you’ll need the above-mentioned generator, air compressor and water tank all available in the full mobile mode. You’ll also need space for your rotary buffer, pressure washer and air-pressured tools. And don’t forget about all the soaps, cleaners, degreasers, spot removers, shampoos, brushes, shop rags and towels that most likely currently reside in the back of your truck.

The thing is, an enclosed trailer that features at least a 5-foot by 8-foot interior not only has plenty of room to securely store all your auto detailing equipment and supplies, but you can bolt down the bigger equipment, which means you absolutely have your very own mobile auto detailing shop. Think of it as a workroom on wheels.

And at the end of the day, you unhook that trailer in the driveway or carport, brush off your hands and walk away. That means your family vehicle can once again reclaim its status as your main ride — the purpose for which it was intended. An uncluttered ride that doesn’t come with industrial odors or rattling bottles and brushes.

If we’ve persuaded you thus far that an enclosed mobile auto detailing trailer might be the route you want to go, keep in mind that while there is a large selection of brands and styles out there, you must pick one that can securely hold all your stuff and the subsequent weight.

A mobile detailing trailer has to be heavy duty. After all, you’re most likely carrying a 90-pound water tank, and with water weighting 8.33 pounds per gallon, we’re talking 750 pounds plus the weight of the tank. And take our word for it — all that water sloshing around inside your utility trailer can spell disaster in rapid fashion for a commercial-built trailer. And if you were thinking about building your own trailer and equipping it with hardware store parts, fuggetaboutit! Sure, you might save some bucks initially, but in the long run you’ll inevitably have problems with the equipment resulting in down time. And we all know that down time costs you money and could lose you customers.

A store-bought utility trailer is in no way designed to support water tanks, let alone heavy compressors, generators and a ton of supplies. Most of these trailers are built with lawn cutters, food concessionaires and pet washers in mind. And none of those match your job description.

And since this is our blog, we are not the least bit shy about promoting our own fully equipped enclosed trailer that is custom built with the mobile auto detailer in mind. That would be Detail King’s DK5800 and we’ve thought of everything.

We’ve even taken your marketing and advertising into consideration. That’s why we designed the exterior wall of our trailers with no pesky bolts, rivets or other distractions, enabling you to wrap the outside with your company name, logo and contact number. Talk about a mobile billboard, this signage is almost guaranteed to boost your business.
