Paul Angell plays a number of crucial roles here at Detail King, including being a go-to guy for our clients in need of assistance when starting or expanding their auto detailing business. He came to Detail King with excellent references — the most impressive being Nick Vacco, our founder and CEO, who has known Paul for the past three decades.

Here are some more details about this detail-oriented businessman:

Detail King: What is it exactly that you do here at Detail King?

Paul Angell: I assist with the development of the business plans and establishing cost analysis for entrepreneurs as they go through the process of developing their own auto detailing business. In addition I serve a role within Detail King as an adviser to the president of the company relative to financial and product matters. Last but not least, I am responsible for improving and monitoring the materials and teaching for the business portion of Detail King’s Auto Detailing Training Institute.

Detail King: What did you do prior to coming to work for Detail King?

Paul: I am a retired vice president of data processing for a major mutual fund company in the Pittsburgh region. My career covered 40 years in the information technology field. In addition, I have considerable experience in servicing clients, selling and managing personnel and projects.

Detail King: What attracted you to work for Detail King?

Paul: Nick Vacco and I have been friends for at least 30 years. Both of us have a keen interest in classic cars along with sport cars of all makes and models. This interest instills the desire to keep cars ready to show and share with other enthusiasts.

We’re closing up shop here at Detail King’s headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa., on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Why wouldn’t we? Benefits of an Enclosed Mobile Detailing Trailer

Is it worth the expense to invest in a mobile trailer for your auto detailing business? We get asked that a lot. What it really comes down to is this:

  • Are you perfectly content with having all those auto detailing supplies stored in the back of the family car or van?
  • Is moving your auto detailing equipment around when you need to take on passengers becoming a little old?
  • And wouldn’t it be nice to have your generator, air compressor and water tank with pressure washer motor all ready to rock and roll when you arrive at a job?

If you’re serious about going all out with your mobile auto detailing business, you’ll need the above-mentioned generator, air compressor and water tank all available in the full mobile mode. You’ll also need space for your rotary buffer, pressure washer and air-pressured tools. And don’t forget about all the soaps, cleaners, degreasers, spot removers, shampoos, brushes, shop rags and towels that most likely currently reside in the back of your truck.

Can a Website Touting Your Auto Detail Business Really Be Worth the Effort?

If you were to rank various occupations on how important a computer is to the success of that business, we’re pretty sure auto detailing professionals would be near the bottom of the heap, some of them proclaiming, “I work with my hands and I don’t need a damned computer.” So it’s understandable why many auto detailers question if it’s even worth the time and expense to invest in a professional website.

In most cases, this hesitation to be ushered into the 21st century boils down to the fact that some car detailers are just stuck in their ways. Or they don’t want to shell out good money for a computer. And then there’s the expense of hiring some high-priced technology wiz to set up their website.

But here’s the thing: Nearly all the detailers for whom we’ve developed a website (yes, in addition to training professional auto detailers and selling the best professional-grade auto detailing equipment and supplies, we build websites for our Authorized Detail King Licensees) have told us that 50 percent to 80 percent of their new business is generated through that website!

Let’s face it. You can only go out and physically market your auto detailing business so many hours a day. The Story Behind Detail King’s New Product Labels

New labels for Detail King products, featuring a unique color-coding system

As it should be with all businesses, there comes a time when you have step back and take a studied look at how you’re doing. And to tell you the truth, we do that a lot here at Detail King. In fact it was during one of these internal evaluations that we came to the conclusion we could do a better job of labeling our products.

When you think about it, you — our customers — are already detail oriented. But what we set out to do here is create product labels that are easier to read. Not only that, but labels that are color-coded for quick recognition when you’re grabbing a bottle up in a hurry to finish up a detailing project. As an added benefit, this will really come in handy when training the novice.

Here’s a rundown of the recent changes we’ve made:

A new look to our labels: Our crack creative design team came up with labels that are more recognizable. And, since we stand behind our products 100 percent, we went ahead and added a big type size that practically shouts out the name DETAIL KING.

It comes in colors: Not only do our product labels have a new look and design, but they’re specifically color coordinated to help you more easily recognize what type of product or chemical it is that you’re pulling off the shop shelf or out of the back of your mobile rig.
